Not much happened today, but sometimes, it’s not about the things you do, but the feelinzz you get. Ya know? The sweet feeling of getting home from a quick errand and putting some clean and comfortable house clothes on after a shower. Anywho…I was feeling FRESH.

I had to jump to another paragraph to give the spotlight to this fabulous loose-fit lounge set!!! Let me tell you. It’s a long-sleeved shirt with drawstring flare pants, in this plush, velvety, soft to the touch material. It’s dark blue with white polka dots. When I put it on, I can’t help but smile, strut around my apartment, and look at my reflection in my full body mirror, in awe. Ahhhh. It’s like that feeling when you go to bed on a cold winter night and as you lay on your side under the covers, you just gotta quickly rub your legs against each other as you release a squeaky (or a sigh?) sound of excitement, relief, and coziness?! Is it just me?

I am also wearing some plush slipper socks. Diva 2.0 has entered the chat.

Proud, but ashamed? Ugh, adulting struggles.

I wanted to start with “Things They Don’t Tell You About Adulting”, but I decided not to troll. How grown am I, right? *simpson’s hiding gif* Well, adulting is a bitch, but it also coexists with perks. Let me break it down to you through some parts of my boring Friday. (Yes, with key points. I’m lazy, sue meh!):

• Waking up with the mental motivation to get shit DONE #grown

• Doing a healthy morning routine (wash face, brush teeth, take my medication, feed my dog, do a 1 page freewriting) while starving myself #grownish

• Oh “I should get ready to leave and do groceries, and return packages from my non-responsible spontaneous online shopping spree” #grownthought

• Nothing #notgrown

• Friend is downstairs to pick up something, *taking advantage of this moment to eat a piece of bread and leave the house* #alil’grown

• Time to run errands, while starving myself #grown, but also #notgrown, #grownish

• YAYYY, I did groceries at a very good price. I was able to constantly ask myself “do you realllly need this? can you go for a healthier and cheaper alternative? do you have to get it NOW? check the price per 100g that’s written on the price labels to see what’s cheaper!” ouuuh. I can' tell you that I did a lot of back and forth, taking things, putting them back, being in a section for a while trynna make the “right” choice. #grown

• Oh I forgot to say, YAYYY, I was SO excited to get stuff on sale that I could put in my freezer!!!!! Woop Woop! I was literally smiling under my mask in the supermarket #grown

• Feeling SHAME for pressing “NO TIP” (why do they have to put it in caps?? oh. I think I just saw it in caps because I felt like the machine was screaming at me? GAH) when buying bagels at the counter. Huge step! But I still left the place looking down - avoiding eye contact. #notgrown

• Reflecting on how it must be so shitty for Russians or people from Florida when watching American movies/shows cuz they’re so stereotyped and then remembering that I AM BLACK?? I laughed out loud while going up the stairs to my apartment. Come on now.

• Finally eating something I made a couple of days ago, YES PAST SELF #grown

Conclusion: I got a long way to go (Cassie!). But STILL, I can be grown and not grown simultaneously.

DJs know wussup

Today, something big happened. I finally had a lil solo dance party! My knee was buggin', but that didn't stop me from dipping it low, doing a lil 1,2 step and live reenactments. It felt liberating to move the energy in my body. I miss going dancing, it was always a moment of reclaiming my space unapologetically, with confidence. Now, how do I live life as if it was my dancefloor? You know I gotta get close to the loud speakers, in a position where I can make eye contact with the dj, *ayyyy*, you just gotta give them their props when they're on the same wavelength! Alright. I got lost. Oh yes, life, dancefloor. Come on now, in that setting, I'd like to be my own dj, in charge of the vibe and pace. That's all I got tonight. I know, boring. Oh well! Gotta have a lil bit of everything :)

Self-control 101

I’m about to let you in on a secret. Hmm, too corny? Alright, I’ll try that again.
It’s 2022, and I didn’t have “new year, new me” goals. However, I found myself wanting to focus on letting things go and achieving self-control, #growth. I don’t wanna get all preachy and stuff, but I figured I could still share some tips! Cue “Things I wish People Told Me Before I Started My Journey” youtube video title. Corny, right? Here it is: 1)get dry scalp 2)wash your hair 3)moisturize your scalp 4)braid your hair in a hairstyle that will last at least a few weeks, and 5) - the most important - when it itches, don’t scratch. Just squeeze your eyes, clench your teeth and fists, and hold that position for however long you need. Self-control 101.

Still looking for it after 30 years.

I’m always excited when the holidays hit, cuz I know it’ll be time to successfully hunt for some eggnog at the grocery store. My dad always used to get us some when I was a kid, although my mom would side eye him as it wasn’t “healthy”. Ok back to the present. You already know I have some in the fridge, ready for sips any time of the day, or night (oups!). Well here it is, it’s Tuesday, I’m avoiding my course readings, I mean…not really cuz I’m thirsty…for some eggnog. So I violently grab the carton from the fridge, open the spout, drop my head down with my throat ready to catch it, (too grown for a glass. I’m 30, remember?) and BAM. Everything. On. My. Shirt. I can’t believe after all these years of practice, I still can’t aim right. rolls eyes Where ma moufff at??????
